weekend is finally here... not that the week was super busy or what (it's a 3-day week somemore). but the transition back to goin to school really takes alot of energy.

Caught quite a few shows on dvd in the previous weeks:

-brothers grimm
-just like heaven *
-when stranger calls
-scary movie 1
-catch me if you can *
-forbidden siren
-the others (the show name itself is 'the others'.. not others as in others... u know wad i mean? :) )

* - nice show. catch it if u can.

1 show that i really have to talk about will be 'when stranger calls'. the show really stunned me by its absolute lack of storyline so much so that everyone who watched it with me tat night agreed that it s*cked..
let me summarise the story in one sentence: "a girl received a nuisance call from a stranger, gets very frightened, started running all over the place and finally manage to catch the stranger but as a result of that, she became 精神紧张.

just saved you around 2hours of time.

watched the semi-finals of project superstar 2. only caught the guys' performance coz nothing about the gals' made it worth the while to catch it.
the 2 guys and 2 gals left are as follows:

daren is the contestant that many feels should be the winner because of his ability to perform on stage and '放电'. while this do attract members of the opposite sex, at the same time he is the type that most guys will dislike. particularly because of the frequency of him 耍帅-i.n.G (almost always) and also because when he sang the song 'Chrysanthemum Stage' in this semis, he managed to reach the 2 difficult part of the song which had the 4 of us struggling..
but being objective here, even if i feel that he should win the competition, most probably he won't because of a tough competition by the name of diya. So he should be contented with being the guys champ.

natheniel managed to get so far despite being a less able singer than '马脸' because he is 19, reminds me of pan wei bo and thus the secondary school and poly + jc girls are highly possible to vote for him.. the most financial able university girls however, will not be taking the risk of having him knock out darren, so here's as far as he will go. :)

i personally do not know why carrie is still here. but i shall offer 3 possible reasons:

firstly she came thru from the '咸鱼翻身' round, so maybe the organisers want to see both the guy and girl who came back into the competition from being eliminated go further..

secondly, her name is carrie. remember kelly from PSS 1? the judges always like to talk about the simlarity in name, how carrie is carrie kelly is kelly carrie is not kelly and kelly is not carrie. so let them enjoy the tongue twister for a while longer...

thirdly, and most likely the correct reason - with all the girls having the kind of standard that u wish that u can vote all of them out, it takes pure luck to progress further. carrie's lucky star may just be shining super brightly...

diya, who will go on to win the competition. no no, i don't think she's as good as daren, but given how the results wil be computed, i don't see a reason she won't win..
the final of the show will be based on 50% judges' scores and 50% phone calls.
if u haf seen diya's performance in the competition before and paid a little attention to the kind of cheers and whistles she received, it will not be difficult to link her up with a certain 'River wants Hill'..
how did she, with her singing and unpopularity, manage to sell so many albums in singapore and overseas? don't ever underestimate the power of the 'Town Crops' community.

liverpool vs arsenal

it's not very often that arsenal beat an opponent - not to mention a strong one - so comprehensively.. so i haf to grab this opportunity to write about these 2 fixtures - liverpool vs arsenal and liverpool vs arsenal.

last weekend saw arsenal beat liverpool 3-1 at anfield in the FA cup third round tie..

many argued that arsenal dint deserve the win.. maybe not. they dint create as many chances and the reds, neither did they had much posession. but one thing they did, and that was to score more than the opponents.

Remember the comments made by liverpool skipper stevie g prior to the games? here's a brief recap:

after watching the first game at anfield, i had doubts whether gerrard really meant business.. for the first 2 arsenal goals, gerrard was the nearest player marking rosicky. in both attempts, he 'siam-ed' away from the ball. And the result was that liverpool had to chase a 2 goal deficit, which ultimately proved too tough a task.

after the game, comments made by liverpool manager rafael benitez included: "Arsenal had been able to buy expensive match-winners beyond his means.." maybe he meant players like henry, van persie and rosicky who are able to turn a game around with a stroke of brilliance..

so came part 2 of the lfc vs arsenal game. this time it's in the carling cup quarters.
the lineup for arsenal this time:

a team featuring 6 teenagers, and the only 2 big names are toure and baptista. Toure isn't an expensive match winner that is unaffordable, and baptista is on loan from real madrid. So maybe wenger was out to prove a point. And man, did he prove a point.

8 shots, 6 on target, 6 goals for the gunners.
Maybe it's time benitez stops tinkering and start to work on his first 11.

first time

yday was the day of a couple of first times..

firstly, it was the first time that i took a dog out for a walk (actually it's also the opportunity for the dog to pee and poo at).. been waiting for such an opportunity for a loooooong time as i do not haf any frens or relatives that owned a dog for the majority period of my life...

it was indeed a great experience and it was great satisfaction when i managed to get him to the trees/lamp-posts/corner of void decks that he held in fancy for this particular outing for his 'business'

A fact regarding taking a dog for a walk tat i realised was that -- most of the time, the dog and urself can never agree in walking in the same direction.. and that's when u haf to play 'tug of war' wif him. :)

now for my second first time.. it's the first time that i am getting my NTU results and it will be done online.
It has been quite a while since my exams ended, so any sort of anticipation for the release of results has long disappeared. Coupled by the fact that school will be starting in about a week's time and i had already had my fair share of relaxing and enjoying, it's only fair that i haf to face my results now.

okay, i admit tat while i clicked the link that will display my results, i was kind of anxious.. C'mon, i'm sure that all of u would haf hoped that it will display

i was expecting a pop-up screen with something like 'this is the first time u are going to check your results online. are you really ready for it? Do you haf your defribilator beside you just in case your heart is unable to take in the surprise/shock? but no, i did not haf the luxury of having the chance to prepare myself.. within 0.4seconds of clicking, the window displayed:

it was not 'A A A A A' neither was it 'F F F F F'.. so i'm quite okay with it.. gota work hard to achieve the 'A A A A A' next time round! :)

watched death note 2 with dear at marina square in the evening... cant say much about the story over here because it seems that anything that i mention could spoil the show for you... all i can say is that if u haven watch it, catch it. of course please do watch the first part first... the story ends here.. no more 'Kira returns' or 'L strikes back', so for those who haf not watched either part, go for the marathon soon!

went to carl's junior last weekend for dinner last week after some last minute shopping for christmas... anyway, if u ever paid any attention to wad carl's junior's mission/vision/statement/you-know-wad-i-mean, it states:

attempted the superstar burger this time round and realised that it really did live up to its name..

the number of serviettes used? 12. simply amazing..

and ever seen the escalator that doesn't move?? well, here it is..

saving $$ by saving electricity? why bother building it in the first place??

as a back-up when 1 of them fails? wad if both of the failed together??

so tat it looks nice when Singapore holds another conference that requires BIG people from all around the world to pass by the escalator? Excellent!

Saw III

Saw my first R(21) show last weekend.. most pple would have gone for "that type" of RA shows, but mine was in the category of blood and gore..

as per saw i and ii, saw iii had all the elements needed.. blood, crepitus, explosion, skin tearing, head disappearing etc etc... of course not forgetting the twist

in fact, it had 2 twists in the story.. .type in wikipedia "twist" and you will find many explanations for this fantastic word.. firstly, the one that we are all very familiar with -- the 4th explanation as stated in wikipedia, a twist ending would be one with an unexpected conclusion or climax to a work of fiction.. an example would be sixth sense by SHYAMALAN (currently voted the director with the coolest name)

the second twist came when we arrive at around 80% of the show... in wikipedia, it's the 2nd explanation -- a force (causing twisting).. imagine taking a chicken wing, hold both ends using each hand, and rotate it in opposite directions...

okay, will stop talking about the movie here in case anyone complains of a spoiler..

after the show, we moved on to marina south to have dinner... and wad would be the best meal to enjoy after watching SAW? haha..of course, 火锅!

Happy Feet

Watched happy feet 2 days ago.. not your typical type of cartoon where the main characters travels many places and u get to enjoy nice new background at every scene..
happy feet has its story at the south pole and for 95% of the time you'll see the white icy background... kinda makes you sleepy after awhile..

for those interested in a short summary of the story: the main character can't sing (this is a big deal because all penguins can sing) but at the end of the day, he saves all the other penguins. Moral of the story? People who can't sing, don't despair...u can still be a hero! (there's hope for me and ambrose!!)

not very helpful huh?? :D
anyway, u get to enjoy nice songs throughout the show, as well as funny moments.. Enjoy~

came across this song called '小情歌' by this seemingly unheard of pop-group by the name of '苏打绿' on the mtv channel a few days back and i HAD TO share this song with u guys...

caught my attention with its nice melody, tune and nice lyrics too..

and when i sat down to enjoy the mtv... to my horror, the singer is a guy.

x-campus run

went for my school's x-campus run this evening...was supposed to be held last wednesday but due to bad weather, it was postponed to today... it was a 6km run round the campus, with one killer uphill slope along the way..was fun nevertheless, despite the fact that ntu is full of good runners, and not long after the start of the race, the front batch of fast runners were nowhere to be seen anymore (the next time i saw them was at the end of the race).

first run round the campus for me, not a bad experience, and received several goodies from the run too!

SATURDAY 020906

received this leaflet last week at pasir ris mrt and it was for a blood donation drive held by the buddhist compassion relief zuchi foundation today and so here we are today (all the way to pasir ris again) :)
we were driven to the place in a mercedes (not bad ah...) and we were handed our pass for entry

we had to go thru several 'trials' before we're allowed to donate our precious blood.. first was the pre-regsitration room (whereby u fill in this form stating all ur medical history), followed by the registration room (whereby they will check ur blood donation history..on this particular day, the system lagged..and so a procedure that would haf taken 20sec normally took us 5mins today.. next we moved on to the third room, the medical checkup room.. the doctor there reconfirmed that we understood wad we filled up in the form back in the first room, at the same time checking our blood pressure and pulse.. my was B.P 114/70..healthy! ;) next up was the counter where we had our blood iron level taken...it had to be above 12 for us to be eligible for donating blood..of course, up next would be the blood donation itself..

met up wif vince, han song and faizal at clementi central hawker center in the evening for a NUS dance performance by the NUS dance synergy..

using han song's 关系 with the president of the dance committee, we managed to get tix at the 4th row from the front.. wonder wad 关系 the people sitting at the 3rd row forward have...
it was nice overall..but like wad i said prior to the show, it really turned out to be a case of people jumping all over the place... and turned out that the guest artistes: Jean-Francois Maljean from Belgium with his great piano pieces (not forgetting singing the song 月亮代表我的心 that received thunderous applause)and dancers from river valley high school and deyi secondary school seemed to have stolen the spotlight from the undergraduates...

had a great time chatting with the guys...too bad forgot to take any photos..will make up for it at next outing at OC and ivan's sending off k. ;)

SUNDAY 020906

was at sentosa early in the day for our own 10km run. total of 5 participants: ambrose, mingwei, tsz lun, tsz ching and myself...due to the fact that few would be so steady to go sentosa for a run on their own, we were spared the shoving, pushing and getting other's sweat mixed with yours and fear for some sort reaction that may arise due to the osmosis..
had a great idea of giving harry his bday present.. his 21st bday wo! happy birthday! so we got the girls to lock up his present in a locker in the girls' toilet and see how he will retrieve his present after being presented the key! ;)

take note: harry was asking help from a little girl...the father saw this and approached harry, threatened to beat him up for suspecting harry to be a pervert (story made up from viewing the video)...

today was a super blur day for me...left home for school in the afternoon and realised that i forgot my phone..but time did not permit me to go back home to retrieve it. and so i was stuck with the 'Top fear' in modern time - the fear of not having your handphone with u, or reasonably taken care of for more than 1 minute..

rushed off to school to meet up for our group discussion for a simple question on financial management..we could have done without the discussion, but hey, this is a group DISCUSSION and presentation, so we decided to at least go through the motion of meeting up..

without my phone, a watch and the fact that the school doesn't put clocks around the campus meant that i had to constantly walk past people wearing a watch and get the excitement of trying to peek at their watches for the time. it doesn't work all the time though, especially when some of them seemed to know of the reason why i walked so near them and thus had their arms folded in a flash..

met up wif zhen for a run and a short volleyball session at the basketball court..
fast forward to meeting kai yi and bobby after our dinner....kai yi is super cute wo! started out quite shy towards me but gradually became closer and started climbing all over me... using me as a slide, (she dint get her wish of playing the slide downstairs coz of the rain) riding on my back and playing master and cow....

fireworks at marina square1...

went to marina square's carl's junior wif my family for dinner on yesterday..the drinks were free flow, so it made sense tat all 4 of us bought only 1 cup of drink..but the fact that my father drinks coffee and my sis felt like drinking milkshake meant that only my mum and i maximised this 'loophole'..as usual, the super big sized burger made all of us struggle to get off our seats after finishing..of course, we left off wif another cup of fully filled drink. ;)

just happened tat the fireworks display were on there and so decided to move on to the open field at the exit near mcdonald's to catch it.. it was surprising that the crowd there were not tat much to the fact that we were unable to move..in fact, i consider the grassfield rather empty despite the clear view, as compared to the stairway which i feel tat has its view blocked, but attracted much more crowd..

the fireworks were fantastic! had it captured on video (which you'll find at the end of this post) and even managed to capture someone complaining about his hand aching for holding the camera for 10mins.haha...after the fireworks display,we moved on to the esplanade stage, where we met up wif our family frens from holland. they came to singapore for a holiday. had been more that 10years since i last saw them in holland. dint recognise all except 1,who also came to singapore the previous year (ling ling - the one on the extreme right)..

the moment all of you haf been waiting for....enjoy the fireworks. ;)

yesterday marks the 41st birthday for singapore..yay! happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to singapore, happy birthday to you....

before the national day parade at the national stadium (it's the last time it would be held in the national stadium) at around 6pm, the palawanders had our own celebrations at 队长 ah bel's house.. the fact that she lives in punggol meant tat i had to leave house at 9.45am just to be at punggol mrt on time at 11am in order to meet harry, brose and mingwei... brose mingwei and myself walked our way to bel's house after a long search for a supermarket to get the drinks (4 pokka 绿茶, 1 root beer, 1 vanilla coke, 1 carrot juice and 1 orange 100plus)

palawanderers who were present at ah bel's house for the celebration: Ah bel, Ah Jiao, Bee Hoon, Yvonne, Zhumei, June, Mingwei, Ambrose, Harry and of course myself..

Bel's house was very beautiful..very clean and neat i should say. too bad i forgot to take any photos.... (for photos and event description, please visit p-o-h HERE

left off for the national stadium wif dear at around 4.15pm.. the recommended arrival time for the spectators was to be seated by 4.30pm. however after years of experience, i've finally learnt not to be kiasu,coz the show will onli start 6pm.so tt's the time tat we arrived...and true enuf, we dint miss any part of the show, less the 'warming up' of the crowds by gurmit singh...
while people were busy watching the parade and performance on the stage, we were busy eating our yukee duck rice and whatever nice things we can find in the goodie bags, as well as taking photos of ourselves.. overall the show was not bad, though the fireworks weren't as nice as last year (i feel)...

Banana Cake!

banana cake baking session is here...been a very long time since baking a banana cake wif my sis..glad that my sis was able to take some time out to help out.. at the end of the day, the cake turned out a little soft but besides tat, the rest were all okay. so i'll declare this cake baking session a success! :)

decided to learn cooking from my dad and mum so tat i can be better equiped to become a "入得了厨房，出得了厅堂" person..and since wednesday's are my parents' off day, it's the best day to learn from them..
actually i've already learnt abit last wedensday (which was my sis bday anyway) and thus the dishes were more complicated and i was more of a helper than the person in charge of cooking...anyway, here are some pics from last wednesday's cooking session!

took my final theory test yesterday..studied abit on saturday evening, and planned to study more on sunday night but in the end chatted on the phone wif Zhen till 4am..effectively tat leaves me eyes half closed for the day,wif only the trip on the bus to study almost around 90% more...well,i dint do tat also...was busy smiling away...
waited outside room 2 of bukit batok driving centre for the instructor to come out and call for the candidates..just nice i saw Siong standing beside the door,hands on the wall and acting cool...went over and talked to him for awhile before the test started...(the world is so small again)
ended my test in around 24 mins...PASSED! hehe.. the printing machine was spoilt so dint get the slip...but still,evidence of my results:

we always hear people mentioning the phrase 'the world is so small', when we happened to see people we know but haven met for a long time on the streets..is the world really THAT small? i mean, the world is only this big..it's the same size for everyone out there....but not everyone happens to see people they know on the streets every now and then...

met up wif the 2502 pple today for the pirates of the carribean 2 at suntec city..was supposed to meet the guys at 11 at cityhall..reached city hall mrt at around 1025 and saw Serene standing beside the escalator leading to raffles city...waved to her and made my way to raffles city. (the world is so small 1)..
harry came, dixon and ambrose came and we made our way to the cinema to get our tix...mingwei soon joined us for lunch...
our movie was supposed to be at 1345, so at 1340,dixon,harry and myself made our way to the cinema to wait for ambrose and mingwei to finish getting snacks from carrefour..was standing near the queue for popcorns etc. when i heard a familiar voice behind me...and dunno whether she was complaining about me blocking the queue...turned around and saw that it was clara! clara, rayson and caroline...they were goin for the same show at the same time slot as well! (the world is so small 2)..
the show was not bad...kinda long at around 2hrs 30mins...was a long time since i watched such a long movie...it wasn't bad...i would rate it at 3.5 out of 5...so it's better than average wo! was a scene whereby the the undead pirates, will turner and bill turner played with dice...a stunning copy of "xiao qi da cai shen"!!!! haha...wun say more in case i spoil it....
after the show, i went to the toilet..was peeing halfway when i turned and saw my junior instructor from TDW...dun really recall his name (sorry about tat ah...) but hey, what a small world! (the world is so small 3)
soon after,we made our way to the mrt station....mingwei was looking out for chocolate to buy as a birthday present for his fren...while harry and brose were to make their way to watch a band performance in victoria concert hall..walked past gelare in city link when i saw a familiar face walk past me... Imelia and her bf...tian mi mi-ing...so dint go and disturb them..instead i sent her an sms... (the world is so small 4)
at night, the weather was good...so went for another evening run...or shud i say night run...it's getting so fun i'm getting addicted! anyway, was about to complete my final round when i saw a familiar face run past me....i turned back and shouted "Mahathir".. it really was him! my sec school fren,the abit gay gay one...but very nice guy from 303, 403! talked awhile..he's goin NUS so i wun see him in NTU...but tat's not the important thing...the important thing is tat...(the world is so small 5!)
too bad that i dint take any photos today...would haf been so incredible...met up wif 5 people in a day which i dint plan at all! wad a small world this is..... :)

was coming home from tuition yesterday night when i went to open up my letter box...i usually wun bother opening the letter box, especially not on a night when it's raining so heavily..but strangly enough, i did so yesterday night..and now i know why..cause there's a mail for me! and this mail is unlike those that i always dread - handphone bills, prudential policies; and neither are they informative mails like 'ntu orientation camp' etc..but this is a gift! wow, havent received one for a while...plus the envelope and design on it were so nice...
i opened it up excitedly in the lift..inside the envelope was a card designed with a monkey, and thus the name 'little monkey' was given :P (did i mention that the handwriting was very nice?? :) ).. a set of 3 stamps to complete the collection upon addition to the one on the envelope.. and also another envelope inside, which contained this book by the name of 'wishes and dreams'...

gonna do a quick post before going for my night-run. :)
today was the first time i got a recall to my new reservice unit. it's 9dsmb..think it stands for 9 division 'something' medical battalion. finally managed to get the dsmb sequence correct.. anyway,the my unit (9 division) will be at selarang camp, which is at changi...meaning to say that in order for me to reach there by 8 for my briefing, i had to wake up at 5.30am. cant remember when was the last time i woke up so early (waking up at 3am for world cup matches is not counted).
met vince at city hall and went took the train to tampines.saw a very funny 3sg(ns) supposedly going to reservice at the same place as we were. his hair was kinda long, and from the back, we thought that he was a girl...only to be stunned when he turned around...
anyway the briefing was rather brief..was supposed to touch on two topics only. the history of 9division as well as the things tat we need to know for our mob manning.. wad the person who was supposed to brief us did was very gladly received by all of us...starting off by saying that 'the history of 9 div...we can skip that la' and so basically it ended within 10mins. my callsign for activation will be 'stone table' and 'final surprise'.. so let's pray hard together tat we never see these two words flashing on the tv screen! ;)
decided to go back to my beloved nee soon camp to look for our fellow instructors who are still waiting for their FREEDOM DAY..happened that markus took half a day off,and was about to be on his way to camp from pasir ris! our lucky day! and so we met markus and he drove us all to camp. thanks markus!
as usual,going back to camp means playing foosball! haha.kinda off form today...dint manage to control the ball as good as usual (think it shud be due to the fatigue caused by waking up too early)...but still managed to win 4 games in a row in a 1v1 game wif vince..hehe.thanks ah! :P
borrowed this book called 'hong xian' (red thread) by 'jiu ba dao' (9 swords) at woodlands library..finished about 2 chapters of it...not bad not bad! upon reaching jurong west lib, i borrowed another book called 'gong fu' by the same author..hope the recommendation is really good ah!

had a wonderful sunday today!
in the morning,our standard sentosa and volleyball session again..even though we go there everyweek,but it's still always so fun! (ever since we got to know of this group of girls whom we started off borrowing ball till today where we go there together for our games..it's been great! knowing u gers and thanks loads for the *smileys* u always carry on ur faces.:) )
glad that this time round mingwei and ambrose were able to make it..been quite a while since they came for our 'volleyball practices'..rained very heavily after we started our game for about 15 mins..and we were forced to struggle to hit the ball to and fro while half closing our eyes to prevent wind,rain and water from getting into our eyes....but soon after it was 'tian qi qing lang' again....
we played in the court for quite a while,with many teams stroking within 100 meters of our court..can see them "hu shi dan dan", but none approached to ask for a game...finally,when they decided that it was the 'liang cheng ji shi', 3 teams came after each other to ask for a challenge..of course we said yes! the first team that came was supposedly a very good team (as mentioned by hagen after his observation.) but we managed to lose only by 17 to 15.NOT BAD! ;)
were playing among ourselves when we were approached by the "kodak ger" deployed by the 'island life' shop located beside 7-11 for a photoshoot..this time we were clever enuf to get our cameras out and request tat she helped us wif it..and she was very kind indeed to help us. (i mean,her work would be to get us to BUY the photo later at a high price ma, so THANK YOU for ur help) and she took it well too!well,wad shud i say....congrats gers (and guys of course), you are on the internet! haha.kinda koped this phrase from somewhere la!

went off at 2 so tat (by my calculation) we can reach tampines sports hall at 4 for our badminton game wif dixon and boon..was on the 'yellow line' towards the departure station when we met this lady from Ghana. I've never spoke wif a ghana-ian before! so it was kinda cool u see. :) anyway she was on her way to jurong bird park, but she doesnt really know how to go there...harry was kind and he took the effort to find out for her if it was open today and how much it would cost to enter....(great job harry! :) ) decided along the way that we would guide her on how to get to boon lay mrt...meaning to say that we had to take the mrt wif her and change at outram to the east-west line so tat she could take the train to boon lay while we went the other way to tampines (we decided tat doing a good deed was more important then compared to our tradition of eating at siah im food centre)...

well....that's Wendy btw,24 this year, a student in tourism! cool huh!

badminton was great too! despite the fact that i haven held the racquet for almost 2 years i think! and the difference in height of the net between a volleyball court and a badminton court was like...wow...i'm actually taller than the net now...but the amazing thing is that the shuttlecock still gets stuck in the net very often..
partnered wif boon and played against mingwei and dixon...lost 3 straight games...the next competitive game was again partnering boon and played against dixon and harry..won 15-4!!!woot..haha...so it brings up the question...who was the person who made the diff? hehe.... (sorry for any distressed caused!) had loads of fun at badminton!!thanks dix and boon for organising this badminton outing ya ;)
after tat was dinner at easpoint kobayashi...first time dining in this fast food restaurant...the food was so-so.had this noodle with egg with teriyaki chicken coupled wif a cup of vanilla coke...but thruout our dining,the boss kept scolding his, or should i say a particular worker...in front of sooo many customers! why make his worker 'lose face'??? anyway,she was still able to put on a smile (3 claps for you!)

did your fair share of good deed for the day?? just a simple gesture of giving up ur seat for someone who needs it more than u would be just great! i did it twice today! cheers!

an sms early in the morning woke me up from my wonderful sleep..it turned out to be ambrose.. lunch and shopping in town in the afternoon..sounds super interesting! had been quite a while since i went shopping.but decided against the idea...coz wadever i'm going to spend now....will effectviely be on credit..and i nv believe in a credit card (it only makes pple bankrupt in the future), neither to i believe in a debit card (it only makes pple bankrupt immediately)...
having decided on tat, i set out my plans for the day..a very simple plan, but enuf to last me thru the afternoon at least - clean up the house. getting alittle dusty at some places and also not at its optimum neatness..so at 12 i set out wif a pail of water,a wet cloth, a dry cloth and a big plastic bag to throw watever rubbish into..
one room at a time,i went in and cleaned it up..before i know it,it's already 4..time really flies while you're having fun..finished everything off with a nice good sweep..was rather pleased wif myself upon completion.. ANNOUNCEMENT 1: Anyone who hates to clean up ur own room even though it's very messy? lemme know! my cleaning service very good,very cheap! :)
took a shower and decided to use the computer for a while...but after switching it on for a while,there still wasn't anything on the screen...gave my monitor 2 gentle pats, followed by 2 harder pats and finally decided to hit it hard many many many times..dint manage to resurrect my beloved monitor that has been wif me for 6 years... so here i am, using a laptop, wif a small screen, no mouse to type my blog...not used to it!! ANNOUNCEMENT 2: Anyone who has a WORKING monitor lying in the corner of your house and want someone to help get rid of it,please lemme know!i'll b glad to take over the ownership! ;)

oh ya,did i mention that scary movie is super funny?even though i watched it for the 3rd time liao...still laugh till cry..highly recommended! can't wait for my part 4 to finish downloading..

went to visit my grandma wif my dad in the afternoon today and something happened that made my blood boil like nv b4! my grandma stays in clementi, and we'll walk from the mrt station to her house..along the way, at block 450, there's this coffeeshop by the name of '口福'. i'm sure you've heard of this name...quite established in singapore..and tt's why i was very surprised by their service..okay,below is the conversation i had wif the drink stall's aunties..
(there are 3 parties: the cashier(C), the person who made the drinks (D) and of course myself..)

Me: 小姐,kopi 跟 teh 打包..

C: 打包 hor...来,一块六..
(turning to (D): teh, kopi..包!)

D(started to make the teh and the kopi...in 2 CUPS.while C reminds her tat it's '打包'.. she looks around....dunno looking for wad,still happily making her teh and kopi) : 来..teh,kopi..

Me: 小姐(kind enuf to call her that),我要打包..

THINGS STARTING TO HEAT UP...

D(DIAO me): 以后要打包早点讲hor!

Me(gif her back one SUPER FIERCE DIAO): "silence"

i took the 2 packets and walked off while she continued talking to the air...

italy made it to the final of the 2006 fifa world cup after putting 2 into the back of lehmann's net in the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half of extra time, after both teams manage to cancel each other out for a 0-0 draw in 90mins....this effectively means ever since the start of the knock-out stages, i've only managed to predict the team that would advance correctly 5 out of 13 games.. namely - match 49,50,51,54 and 58. click here to see the match lineups this again explains the reason why i no longer bet on football.coz there's only gotta b 1 outcome - no $$ faster..
tonight,or shud i say tml morning will see portugal playing france, with the winner facing italy this coming monday for the world cup. spare me the predicting of the scoreline...i will surely get it wrong..i will just make an attempt to guess who will go thru.. and i still believe tat it will b portugal.esp wif deco now back in the team.

went to jurong east central to help my sis deposit a cheque which she had earned herself from teaching a group of students in chinese high how to film..a one and a half seminar brought her a whopping $200. Wow...averaging $133 an hour.where got job so shiok one??work for 10 hours and u can slack for the rest of the month leh...i'll be looking out for such job opportunities from now on.
meanwhile i also picked up a card at popular..wanted to choose a nicer one, but due to the big hole in my pocket,i settled for a not so expensive one in the end..still it looked quite nice! plain and simple.lotsa space for me to write on..

went through another routine of goin to tuition in the morning, coming back home and sweep the floor, hang the clothes and iron the dried ones in the afternoon...was keeping the broom and dustpan back to the storeroom when i saw my hoola hoop hanging there..bought it quite a while ago, but dint really play wif it. 心血来潮, i decide to take it down and haf a go at it once again...

cleared up some space and started twisting my hip...but no matter how i tried, i am unable to get past 5 rounds...and it's not tt i dint put in any effort. within 5 mins i'm already all wet wif perspiration and stil, i cant get the momentum...getting irritated..not just becoz of my incapability, but also becoz of another fact - the hoop i'm using is a wave hoop, and wif a wave hoop,

it's supposed to be a case of 'if you couldn't hoop before, now you can!' (exclaimation mark somemore...) grr..... for my case.. 'if you couldn't hoop before, don't bother...'

a long post for today..sitting in front of the pc,playing nanaca crash and receiving pics from harry..so here goes..

another super day at the beach today! fantastic sun and sand...played volleyball for nearly 4 hours....dint apply my suntan lotion well and even enuf....kana burnt kinda badly....especially the shoulder and neck..plus the fact that i now haf a wonderful sunglass tan on my face.. bleah..
the new ball made its debut in the court today...freshly pumped,it has the right bounce and even though not very used to it yet,it feels good,quite easy to control,and u can almost hear the springy sound 'boing' when u hit it..soon it shall replace the official tournament ball..
found out a few facts and secrets on the court today. fact number 1 - mingwen and i do not haf the chemistry to play volleyball together. fact number 2 - zhu mei doesnt like to serve the ball and fact number 3 - someone from the team doesn't run to pick up balls tat went out of the court. (see whether u can find out who she is. :P) hope we can improve on our chemistry the next time round boon!
played 3 games wif other challengers...won 2 and lost the last 1...they were quite pro actually...always going 1.hit 2.set 3.spike.. and we managed to get 10 points off them...not bad huh? plus i managed to block a spike too!haha..moment to remember..
went off soon after coz prepared to rest b4 goin back camp for another gym session!
tat sums it up for sentosa today..next time we'll try to haf some pics on sentosa k? team leader dun b shy la! hehe

chatted wif ambrose about marketing,sales... sales,selling things..something that everybody hates but is unable to run away from..why must we sell things? if we sell things,aren't we salesmen then? everyone is afraid of salesman today right???? think of your insurance agent fren....but even if you think that u are not in the line of sales,actually u still are,coz no matter wad job u are in, doctor,psychologist,waiter, u are selling something....your skills, your services. so instead of hating it and not facing it,let's face it,we are all goin to sell something one day...(if we haven started selling yet). coz if we dun sell,we dun get to BUY either...and i'm sure everyone likes buying stuffs...well..at least i do..

we touched on the topic of doing surveys too...in singapore today..it has come down to only 3 types of surveys..
1st,the REAL survey.here, u just help gif ur opinion on a particular topic,and u DONT leave ur particulars behind.this is wad a real survey is...but sadly.chances of doing the REAL survey... 0.1%
2nd,the FAKE survey.in this case,there are some random questions asked..it could be related,it may not be...but at the end of the survey,there are a few standard things that will be present: name, ic, dob, add, contact numbers. the purpose? your data.be it for their own usage or selling it to some other companies...tt's how junk mails come about. chances of doing the FAKE survey 10%
3rd, the PROSPECTING survey..as you all know, mlm is getting more and more popular today...and in order to go far in this business,u need to expand your network..frens are nv enuf...so how do u know more pple? yes you got it...surveys! do refer to my foosball challenge!
entry to know exactly wad is a prospecting survey..and once u put down ur contact number...u'll soon be contacted as you've been 'shortlisted' for an 'interview'...i was suppose to haf an 'interview' for the andrew guy....i dint turn up, he dint contact me and neither did he follow up...guess he's new in this. ;)

Money.
people always haf the misconception that money is the root of all evil..they blame money for the bad things that happen in the world..but it just isnt true...money is not the root of all evil...it's the lack of money that's the root of all evil..think about it...if all of us are millionaires,it definitely wipes out all the occurences of theft,break ins etc..face it,money solves most,if not all problems.wif money,i can buy my red BMW 3 series convertible, i can get the iDesire for my parents, we can move to a big house and relax without any worries..so whoever tells me that 'i dun need money to be happy', or that 'i dun need money to haf a life i dream of', i always ask them to gif me their money.....of course which they never agreed to...and it has always left me thinking...

anyway,life with no money is kinda hard...u gota plan how u spend, wad u spend it on, and now, even transportation is a factor...i haf never thought twice about taking a bus before!! even though it's something i wouldn't haf desired for,since it has come to this stage, might as well i learn something from it...no point complaining for it does nothing constructive at all..
it's comforting to know tat i haf a very loving family there for me as well....it's been a while since i asked my parents for money..i nv thought i would haf to...instead it shud b the other way round. but since the situation is as per wad it is, you've gota do wad u gota do...at the meanwhile....it's more tuition for more money...and of course...walk instead of taking the bus whenever possible.

True Story

misplaced my GO! card about 3 weeks ago and thought nothing of it...and it was good in a way too coz it allowed me to spend only wadever cash i had wif me this 3 weeks..was hoping tt the next time i withdrew any $,i would be surprised by the amount i haf inside...
indeed i had a surprise when i went to check it...or shud i say shocked..as i haf giro-linked my EZ-link card to my atm account,i felt strange tat i was denied entry as i was trying to take the mrt this afternoon...upon checking my card,i found out tat my card was in 'bad debt'...not that i haf heard of any 'good' debts before..anyway, i decided to top it up using my ATM card but was denied due to insufficient funds...hmm.....it's starting to get a little on my nerves.
so i went opposite to the atm machine to check on the balance tat i had left in my account..

stunned.....ZERO! ZILCH! KOSONG! 零!

my goodness me..i haven been spending from my atm account for 3 weeks and i was expecting at least a few numbers...not 0! grr....
somebody must haf been spending money from my account.....who?? only he knows...
no money,wad to do...gotta work extra hard for $$ to come in again...haiz.

in any case...lesson learnt: dun apply for the POSB GO! card. it sux..

woke up in the morning by my dad's blasting of his favourite songs from his records...same old routine for the day...go and stand at some mrt station, 罚站, do survey and at the same time ask people to sign up as a member for my company's privilege card...been doin this for soooo long.getting sick and tired of it.but come 1st july when the whole program actually launches..ah..then i shud b able to find other more interesting things to do....

came across this newspaper by the name of 'my paper 我报' at my door step.. though i've seen it before,this is the first time i actually read thru it...and realised tt it's the chinese version of 'today'..it's good i would say,for a free paper delivered to our doorsteps.but gif it half a year or so and i'm quite sure that 2 things would happen. either it becomes like 'today', where it's full of advertisements till u no longer bother reading....or it will no longer be free.

basically it's a test on how well our body is able to get rid of wastes..based on a few questions...i'm stunned when i did it...coz besides the first question being 0 (i dun smoke), all the other questions were all 4 or 5s... time to do something about it...

so i decided to take some actions on question number 5, whereby i'm unable to eat at least 3 types of vege a day...went to giant to buy a few varieties of vege and work on my salad ;)

i know it doesnt look very nice la...but it's not bad one ya...consists of baby carrots, japanese cucumber, lettuce, tomato, celery, cheese, apple and a nice coating of thousand island sauce (not shown in the pic). so basically every serving of salad would be enuf to reach the recommended amount of vege intake a day..think i'll make one everyday. plus the fact that celery is a food tat has negative calorie (it's true!), meaning that eating celery will in fact reduce the amount of calorie in your body.heaven's gift!!! eat more!!

rainy sunday

woke up this sunday morning...sky dark dark..drizzling.was so tempted to just close my eyes and sleep again,so i tried my luck, sms annabel asking whether they were stil goin to sentosa...and sadly,the reply was yes..there goes my beautiful sleep..

was the first to arrive at harbour front mrt so i sat down and waited while reading my get rich book.arnd 10 mins later i turned around and saw a grp of familiar faces..they were the ones whom i were waiting for!! sat about 2 metres from me and nv come and say hi... grr...must be tat always see me in sunglasses then cant recognise me hor..

in any case,team leader annabel arrived last and we moved off to sentosa..along the way i managed to (finally after soooo many meetings) to know their names. namely annabel,karen,beehoon,zhu mei,yvonne,june,tsz lun and seng hang [apologies if there's any typo,today i only know how to PRONOUNCE ]. and congrats for being named on my blog..not many pple get the chance. :)

going to sentosa on a rainy day is good in a few ways.firstly the ground is not hot,and so we can enjoy ourselves.also,pple tend to sleep thru the morning instead of coming to sentosa and get themselves wet; even when there are pple who do come,we can always tell them tat they shud go find a shelter and dun play in the rain..if not later kana cold.

warmed ourselves up hitting the ball among ourselves before being 'arrowed' to challenge a group so tt we can haf a feel of the court as well..but either they misunderstood me or they were just tired,coz they gave up the whole court to us.thanks` so now all 9 of us can get to play in the court..soon many teams started issuing challenges..we won 2,lost 1.and had to gif up the court..meanwhile,i received another name...Mr PR.this added to my list of names like 'chinese dance', 'act cool de', 'hao sheng'..wah...it wouldn't be long before i haf to respond to all the names called!

june had to go off earlier while the rest of us continued hitting the ball among ourselves.this time we used the new mizuno ball.a bit 'lao hong' so it's kinda painful..i'll bring a pump the next time to get it to the optimum pressure`..before june went off,she helped all of us fold our umbrella nicely as the rain has stopped as well.thanks june!

chatted wif seng hang on the way out of sentosa and got to know tat he opens an eatery - 'Yi Chuang - Your Basic Nutrients Shop'. a business man in the making! i'll go visit your stall when i can spare the time k. ;)

had bibimbap for lunch at the harbour front food centre..really reminds me of 'yu sheng'..wonder who was the orginator of the dish..even the way of eating is similar.. you're supposed to go and mix and stir all the ingredients before eating it,as demonstrated by karen (i dint know tt!) but it was really filling..made a comment tat 'i'm really full man'.. and it brought about a reaction from bel and karen whereby they decided they can't finish their bibimbap..haha..hope the 2 of u were really full ah...dun just becoz of 仪态 then dun finish ah.... :P

went home after tt...changed to jeans,and went out again..this time back to my camp..met up wif vince to go back for dinner,gym and some foosball action! been quite a while since working out...getting flabby liao sia....sian.

waited for the trainees to come back coz needed them to help me wif something.at the meanwhile we leveled up on our foosball...now we can let pple 'hear noise' also liao.hahaha.

watched the holland portugal match. holland lost 1-0. there were 4 red cards. there was a kick in the chest at robben in the penalty area wif no penalty awareded. there was a shot from cocu that rebounded off the bar from just 6 yards out. it wasnt holland's day.

foosball challenge!

finally....the day has arrived where vince and i were given the chance to pit our foosball skills tat we haf acquired during our nee soon time, against the best in the world. it's the foosball challenge organised at indochine, the nude supperclub at wisma atria..well,not tat the name had anything to do wif the theme of the bar ;)

met up wif vincent at orchard mrt at arnd 6..saw him wif this guy (whom i got to know later as andrew). thought they were frens but actually he's just doing a survey... questions like "1) do you think singaporeans need a second job to sustain a certain standard of living in singapore? 2) if u are given an opportunity to start ur own business,will u be interested?" got my alarm ringing..my alarm always rings when i feel something to do wif mlm arises..not tat i haf anything to do against it..in fact,i've been to many mlm marketing plans...some good, some not tat good.i mean,why must we be so closed-minded wif something tat is gradually becoming part of our lives? why not be more receptive,listen,read more about it,and so we know wad it is about...same goes for pple who things tat city harvest church is some scary place where once u enter u cant exit..come on...no one can force u to do something tat u dint want to..again,be more open minded!it's the 21st century!
Disclaimer: I'm not doing mlm, and neither am i in city harvest. satisfied? bleh.

anyway, we moved on and met up wif jolene and ottilia (a new friend! :)) went to food republic for dinner..now come a very interesting thing..i ordered a plate of 菜饭 from the 剪刀剪 stall..a set tat consists of pork chop, 'kong ba' that meat, cabbage and egg cost me $3.80. ottilia ordered a set tat cosists of pork chop, cabbage, and brocoli (i think), and the price was..... $4!!! where's the logic in that??the more u eat, the cheaper it gets?

after dinner,we're at the nude supperclub! found a nice cozy corner to relax and at the same time watch our competitors warm up at the 2 free for all foosball table..alan and faizal joined us (thanks for the support!) managed to make it to the quarter finals,but somehow lost the next game 5-4 after going 4-1 up.wonder wad went wrong.in any case,even though we lost...we stil wanted to play so we went to the other table and played among ourselves before being joined by a couple..we made so much noise,think about 100 times that of the actual competition (hope we dint distract them).the foosball time was great,and we learnt a new skill which will let the opponent 'hear noise'.will display it to our fellow foosballers once we master it.hehe..

i dint return home empty ended also..there was this "run-up-to-the-stage-and-answer-a -question-that-everyone-knows-but-no-one-wants-to-come-up-so-if-you-do-you-win-a-prize" section..and the question was 'which radio station did we come from?' (the answer was power 98). everyone shouted out the answer,but no one went up..so well,i did..and got this ronaldinho's favourite music...some very nice brazilian samba music....can try to juggle some balls while listening to it...u may just be the next ronaldinho.

nanaca crash

came across this very nice japanese game..sort of reminds me of one of the bishi bashi game..think it's called 'the wedding cake' whereby u got to get an angle and store energy to get the cake flying as far as possible..
since this is a japanese game, reading the 'how to play' section is not particularly useful
anyway,this game, nanaca crash, starts of by setting the angle and the power and POOM!, a ger rides a bicycle, hits the guy, and he flies.......
along the way, there are other characters whereby touching them will gif the guy an additional boost in the form of a kick, a punch..or even a special combo! others will slow you down..and one will catch the guy, and end the game. wasted 4 hours of my time on it coz u just wanna keep beating your old score.
finally ended up wif a score of 7997.65m.. try beating it.hehe

My 3 favourite specials

1st. undoubtedly the most beautiful special in the game..done by the lady in dark red...sorts of reminds me of the 'tian' done by akuma in street fighter..though it looks nice,this is the weakest special in the game

2nd. this special,which is also known as teleport,will allow the guy to travel (teleport) through air uninterrupted for around 20 seconds..considered the most useful special as u will not need to worry of being blocked by any of the characters..
it is however,extremely difficult to execute as u need to hit the lady in purple (which will block you) and the next person you hit will haf to be the one as displayed in the 'special' corner.

3rd. don't be fooled by the rank. this is the most powerful special there is, combining the boost from 3 girls.too bad it doesnt beat the other 2 in its looks..this special is executed by hitting the lady in green, only when she is displayed in the special corner..if not, the game will end..

was reading this book called 'how to stop worrying and start living' by dale carnegie..

put it simply,everyone worries about somethings everyday...most of the time,however,we do not wish to be worying about these worrie..this is the book that deals with the fundamental emotions and ideas.fascinating to read,easy to apply,it's a book everyone shud read.

there's this article entitled 'just for today' written by the late Sibyl F. Patridge.let's follow it,eliminate most of our worries and increase our portion of wada the french call la joie de vivre

goals by van persie and van nistelrooy secured a 2-1 victory for the dutch..this second win for the dutch meant that the dutch are now 2nd in the group of death,lvl on points with argentina but behind on goal difference (after the serb decided tat losing by 1 goal or by 6 goals both meant that they will be goin home, just that the latter would get them more news coverage)..not that it matters,cause the dutch will top the group by beating argentina this coming wednesday.

many will argue that it is near impossible for holland to pull of this feat considering both sides performance earlier this morning,coupled with the fact that the dutch were being dominated by ivory coast for most part of the match..but i would liketo bring out a law..

the law of averages..how many times can a team score 6 goals and concede none?especially in a world cup finals match??silence.ok..let's just assume that both teams are top class(which we dun really need to assume),and that argentina will manage to score an average of 3 goals a game and for holland,2 goals a game.this is not an unfair assumption again considering argentina's stronger attack.

so,by doing our maths and applying the law of average,we should have no trouble deducing the outcome of the match.

yes,it'll be holland 3 argentina 1.

Kao..this game is super super super super super super super super difficult..u haf to click various items in the game to get the stickmen home..the thing is, u haf to get them in the correct sequence..and once u make a mistake, u might not be able to complete it...somemore the game will just continue till u decide to try again..
