weekend is finally here... not that the week was super busy or what (it's a 3-day week somemore). but the transition back to goin to school really takes alot of energy.

Caught quite a few shows on dvd in the previous weeks:

-the others (the show name itself is 'the others'.. not others as in others... u know wad i mean? :) )

1 show that i really have to talk about will be 'when stranger calls'. the show really stunned me by its absolute lack of storyline so much so that everyone who watched it with me tat night agreed that it s*cked..
let me summarise the story in one sentence: "a girl received a nuisance call from a stranger, gets very frightened, started running all over the place and finally manage to catch the stranger but as a result of that, she became 精神紧张.

just saved you around 2hours of time.


watched the semi-finals of project superstar 2. only caught the guys' performance coz nothing about the gals' made it worth the while to catch it.
the 2 guys and 2 gals left are as follows:















daren is the contestant that many feels should be the winner because of his ability to perform on stage and '放电'. while this do attract members of the opposite sex, at the same time he is the type that most guys will dislike. particularly because of the frequency of him 耍帅-i.n.G (almost always) and also because when he sang the song 'Chrysanthemum Stage' in this semis, he managed to reach the 2 difficult part of the song which had the 4 of us struggling..
but being objective here, even if i feel that he should win the competition, most probably he won't because of a tough competition by the name of diya. So he should be contented with being the guys champ.







natheniel managed to get so far despite being a less able singer than '马脸' because he is 19, reminds me of pan wei bo and thus the secondary school and poly + jc girls are highly possible to vote for him.. the most financial able university girls however, will not be taking the risk of having him knock out darren, so here's as far as he will go. :)







i personally do not know why carrie is still here. but i shall offer 3 possible reasons:

firstly she came thru from the '咸鱼翻身' round, so maybe the organisers want to see both the guy and girl who came back into the competition from being eliminated go further..

secondly, her name is carrie. remember kelly from PSS 1? the judges always like to talk about the simlarity in name, how carrie is carrie kelly is kelly carrie is not kelly and kelly is not carrie. so let them enjoy the tongue twister for a while longer...

thirdly, and most likely the correct reason - with all the girls having the kind of standard that u wish that u can vote all of them out, it takes pure luck to progress further. carrie's lucky star may just be shining super brightly...







diya, who will go on to win the competition. no no, i don't think she's as good as daren, but given how the results wil be computed, i don't see a reason she won't win..
the final of the show will be based on 50% judges' scores and 50% phone calls.
if u haf seen diya's performance in the competition before and paid a little attention to the kind of cheers and whistles she received, it will not be difficult to link her up with a certain 'River wants Hill'..
how did she, with her singing and unpopularity, manage to sell so many albums in singapore and overseas? don't ever underestimate the power of the 'Town Crops' community.

it's not very often that arsenal beat an opponent - not to mention a strong one - so comprehensively.. so i haf to grab this opportunity to write about these 2 fixtures - liverpool vs arsenal and liverpool vs arsenal.

last weekend saw arsenal beat liverpool 3-1 at anfield in the FA cup third round tie..


many argued that arsenal dint deserve the win.. maybe not. they dint create as many chances and the reds, neither did they had much posession. but one thing they did, and that was to score more than the opponents.

Remember the comments made by liverpool skipper stevie g prior to the games? here's a brief recap:






after watching the first game at anfield, i had doubts whether gerrard really meant business.. for the first 2 arsenal goals, gerrard was the nearest player marking rosicky. in both attempts, he 'siam-ed' away from the ball. And the result was that liverpool had to chase a 2 goal deficit, which ultimately proved too tough a task.






after the game, comments made by liverpool manager rafael benitez included: "Arsenal had been able to buy expensive match-winners beyond his means.." maybe he meant players like henry, van persie and rosicky who are able to turn a game around with a stroke of brilliance..


so came part 2 of the lfc vs arsenal game. this time it's in the carling cup quarters.
the lineup for arsenal this time:

a team featuring 6 teenagers, and the only 2 big names are toure and baptista. Toure isn't an expensive match winner that is unaffordable, and baptista is on loan from real madrid. So maybe wenger was out to prove a point. And man, did he prove a point.




8 shots, 6 on target, 6 goals for the gunners.
Maybe it's time benitez stops tinkering and start to work on his first 11.

yday was the day of a couple of first times..

firstly, it was the first time that i took a dog out for a walk (actually it's also the opportunity for the dog to pee and poo at).. been waiting for such an opportunity for a loooooong time as i do not haf any frens or relatives that owned a dog for the majority period of my life...

it was indeed a great experience and it was great satisfaction when i managed to get him to the trees/lamp-posts/corner of void decks that he held in fancy for this particular outing for his 'business'

A fact regarding taking a dog for a walk tat i realised was that -- most of the time, the dog and urself can never agree in walking in the same direction.. and that's when u haf to play 'tug of war' wif him. :)

now for my second first time.. it's the first time that i am getting my NTU results and it will be done online.
It has been quite a while since my exams ended, so any sort of anticipation for the release of results has long disappeared. Coupled by the fact that school will be starting in about a week's time and i had already had my fair share of relaxing and enjoying, it's only fair that i haf to face my results now.

okay, i admit tat while i clicked the link that will display my results, i was kind of anxious.. C'mon, i'm sure that all of u would haf hoped that it will display

i was expecting a pop-up screen with something like 'this is the first time u are going to check your results online. are you really ready for it? Do you haf your defribilator beside you just in case your heart is unable to take in the surprise/shock? By clicking yes, you are saying that you agree to the terms and conditions blar blar blar.....'

but no, i did not haf the luxury of having the chance to prepare myself.. within 0.4seconds of clicking, the window displayed:






it was not 'A A A A A' neither was it 'F F F F F'.. so i'm quite okay with it.. gota work hard to achieve the 'A A A A A' next time round! :)






watched death note 2 with dear at marina square in the evening... cant say much about the story over here because it seems that anything that i mention could spoil the show for you... all i can say is that if u haven watch it, catch it. of course please do watch the first part first... the story ends here.. no more 'Kira returns' or 'L strikes back', so for those who haf not watched either part, go for the marathon soon!

went to carl's junior last weekend for dinner last week after some last minute shopping for christmas... anyway, if u ever paid any attention to wad carl's junior's mission/vision/statement/you-know-wad-i-mean, it states:









attempted the superstar burger this time round and realised that it really did live up to its name..









the number of serviettes used? 12. simply amazing..


and ever seen the escalator that doesn't move?? well, here it is..









saving $$ by saving electricity? why bother building it in the first place??

as a back-up when 1 of them fails? wad if both of the failed together??

so tat it looks nice when Singapore holds another conference that requires BIG people from all around the world to pass by the escalator? Excellent!



Mystery solved!

Saw my first R(21) show last weekend.. most pple would have gone for "that type" of RA shows, but mine was in the category of blood and gore..





as per saw i and ii, saw iii had all the elements needed.. blood, crepitus, explosion, skin tearing, head disappearing etc etc... of course not forgetting the twist

in fact, it had 2 twists in the story.. .type in wikipedia "twist" and you will find many explanations for this fantastic word.. firstly, the one that we are all very familiar with -- the 4th explanation as stated in wikipedia, a twist ending would be one with an unexpected conclusion or climax to a work of fiction.. an example would be sixth sense by SHYAMALAN (currently voted the director with the coolest name)

the second twist came when we arrive at around 80% of the show... in wikipedia, it's the 2nd explanation -- a force (causing twisting).. imagine taking a chicken wing, hold both ends using each hand, and rotate it in opposite directions...

okay, will stop talking about the movie here in case anyone complains of a spoiler..

after the show, we moved on to marina south to have dinner... and wad would be the best meal to enjoy after watching SAW? haha..of course, 火锅!

Watched happy feet 2 days ago.. not your typical type of cartoon where the main characters travels many places and u get to enjoy nice new background at every scene..
happy feet has its story at the south pole and for 95% of the time you'll see the white icy background... kinda makes you sleepy after awhile..





for those interested in a short summary of the story: the main character can't sing (this is a big deal because all penguins can sing) but at the end of the day, he saves all the other penguins. Moral of the story? People who can't sing, don't despair...u can still be a hero! (there's hope for me and ambrose!!)

not very helpful huh?? :D
anyway, u get to enjoy nice songs throughout the show, as well as funny moments.. Enjoy~

came across this song called '小情歌' by this seemingly unheard of pop-group by the name of '苏打绿' on the mtv channel a few days back and i HAD TO share this song with u guys...

caught my attention with its nice melody, tune and nice lyrics too..

and when i sat down to enjoy the mtv... to my horror, the singer is a guy.
